Relationship and Worship

Excerpt:

Jesus is preaching and teaching in Galilee. He’s walking around doing His thing, not far removed from gathering His first disciples to Himself; His word, His thoughts, and the way that He presents, and the things that He has to say are so powerful! And the fact the God is working through Him to do miracles that He is begun like a magnet draw people from all over the place. The Decapolis, which are the ten cities that surround Galilee from Galilee as far away from Judea are coming. They are following Him and the number is so great. It says at one point in time that He looked and He sees that there are about 5,000 people following Him. Like He didn’t notice before. He’s so intent on what He is doing. He is preaching and teaching to these young men.

So, He goes up on a hillside, sits down with them and begins to teach. He’s a smart guy because He knows that His voice will carry. Well all these people moved up with Him and sit down and begin to teach these things. So powerful are His words and the truth are so amazing that people are just drawn to that.

Matthew 6 starts off with a warning, Jesus says to His disciples (and remember that He is focusing on them and He is speaking in a way that others can hear), He warns them about making a show of their faith for the purpose of getting attention. That’s the first thing that He said.

“Don’t live this faith out in such a way that you want to draw attention to yourself.”
